Acupuncture
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a
powerful medical
therapy used
throughout the world
to effectively treat
many health
conditions (click
here for diseases &
conditions that can
be successfully
treated with
acupuncture and
related therapies).
The benefits of
acupuncture are now
well documented by
medical researchers
and acknowledged by
The World Health
Organization and The
National Institutes
of Health.
Acupuncture is safe,
gentle, and
affordable.
How does Acupuncture
work?
Acupuncture acts on
the system of
pathways that cover
the entire body
similar to the
circulatory system
and nervous system.
Acupuncture adjusts
the the energy and
blood flow, leading
it to areas where it
is needed and moving
it to areas where it
is stuck or blocked.
In this way,
acupuncture restores
the harmonious
balance of the body,
speeds healing, and
reduces pain.
What are treatments
like and how many
will I need?
The initial
evaluation and
treatment includes
time to discuss your
health history, and
treatment goals.
Various therapies
may be recommended
based on your
condition including
acupuncture, herbal
medicine, Asian
nutrition therapy,
and others.
Extremely thin
needles (slightly
thicker than a hair)
will be placed below
the skin and left in
place for up to 30
minutes. There is
very little
sensation of the
needles which are
nothing like an
ordinary injection.
The needles are
sterile, used only
once and disposed.
Most people find the
treatments deeply
relaxing and many
fall asleep during
the treatment.
Acupuncture can be a
highly effective
therapy when
patients follow the
recommended
treatment schedule.
The amount of
treatment needed
depends on the
nature, severity,
and duration of the
condition as well as
the patient's
general health, age,
diet, exercise,
activity, and stress
level. Many of the
common conditions
treated require at
least two treatments
per week for several
weeks and longer for
more serious,
chronic issues.
