Personal Trainer

Beth Kostens, BS, CSCS, CPT

Beth is certified through the National Strength & Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and also through American Council of Exercise as a Certified Personal Trainer.  She has been training clients for over 6 years, 4 of which she was the Director of Personal Training at Gold’s Gym located at Marley Station in Anne Arundel County.  She has worked with a wide variety of clients from those who were finished with their physical therapy to “healthy” individuals.  Everyone has their individual motivation whether it is to improve their strength, endurance, tone, lose weight or just get “healthy”.  Beth has also done specialized training focusing on balance, agility and sports (golf, tennis, lacrosse).

What got Beth started back to the gym?   A drunk driver rear ended her car and she too ended up at the Physical Therapist office just like you! Thanks to the physical therapist and acupuncturist!  She took it from that point forward, determined to regain her strength and endurance.  After a year that goal was met and she set her sights on a more challenging goal…. National Physique Committee Figure Competition.  So, at the mature age of 44, she stepped on stage and won the OCB Baltimore’s Charm City Classic, Masters Figure division and later that year placed third at the NPC Maryland State.  The next year, age 45, she won 5th at NPC Maryland State and 14th at NPC Body Rock.  The Body Rock was the top amateur competition on the East Coast.   Just a note, NPC does not divide out the 20 year olds from the 40+ year olds, everyone stands side by side.  In 2004 she was written up in Natural Muscle Magazine and because of her, they started an “over 40 club” column.

Her motto says it all….. Be Your Personal Best!

Beth also enjoys gardening, hiking, lacrosse (Go Terps –MD Alumni) and squats rule!

Dr. Pamela Heath

Dr. Pamela Heath was born in Fayetteville, NC, and moved to Clark Air Base in the Philippines at age 12.  She returned to the US when Mt. Pinatubo erupted in 1991, and completed her HS Cum Laude at St. Andrew’s School in Middletown, DE in 1992.  She earned a B.A. in biology from Hood College in Frederick, MD in 1996.  She attended Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she reverted to Islam in 1997 and graduated with a Doctor of Osteopathy degree in 2000.  Her internship was with George Washington University/Holy Cross Hospital Family Practice Residency Program based in Rockville, MD (now defunct).  She completed her training in 2003 at VCU/MCV-Shenandoah Valley Family Practice Residency Program in Front Royal, VA.  She is Board Certified by the ABFM, and plans to sit for the AOBFP and ABHM exams in sha’ Allah.

Dr. Heath’s family medicine practice combines the primary care specialties of general internal medicine, general pediatrics, and non-surgical gynecology.  As such, she does some prescribing and counseling for mental health issues.  She performs dermatologic procedures such as cryotherapy for warts, biopsy/removal of moles and skin tags, and drainage of boils and abscesses.  She incorporates elements of orthopedics, physical therapy, and sports medicine as well as performing osteopathic manipulation—the easiest way to describe this is to imagine your physician, chiropractor, physical therapist, and massage therapist were the same person.  She strives to continue her study of, and increasingly incorporate Qur’an/Islam, herbs, homeopathy, foot reflexology, and other treatment modalities as appropriate to each individual patient.

Tricia McCauley, Certified Health Counselor

Tricia McCauley is a Certified Health Counselor and graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.  She is certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners and is currently pursuing a Masters of Science degree in Herbal Medicine at the Tai Sophia Institute.

Tricia's exploratory journey with food and cooking began almost 20 years ago when she was experiencing problems with severe food allergies.. Allergy tests and medicine did not affect the itchy red hives that attacked her body for hours at a time. Finding alternate foods, learning to cook with brand-new staples, and eventually cutting all gluten, corn, soy, garlic, and canola oil out of her diet, taught Tricia a great deal about self-care and patience, and made her a self-taught expert on dietary transitions.

Besides nutrition counseling, Tricia has worked in the Washington, DC theatre community since 1992 as a performer, producer, and teacher. Her integrative nutrition education, background of dietary exploration, and her theatrical experience give her a unique toolkit. She brings creativity, compassion, humor, and personal understanding to her clients, whether they are undertaking their own dietary transitions, learning to breathe from the diaphragm, or learning their way around the kitchen.

Tricia also enjoys gardening, organic farming, traveling, yoga, hanging about with her cat, and playing the mandolin very badly.
